The house is exactly as described; modern, airy and well maintained. It accommodated four adult couples very comfortably, with large common and outdoor spaces. The location is very private, but not secluded: there's a great craft brewery across the street, cafes and groceries within an easy walk and a 5-minute drive to downtown Dartmouth and the bridge or ferry to the Halifax side. Highly recommended!
Case Studies
These aren't hypothetical scenarios. They're real properties, real owners, and real results from our portfolio across Nova Scotia.
Serene Modern Lakehouse
Halifax market median: ~$25,000/yr — this property earns 6.6x the median
$127,400 in Passive Income — From 1,500 km Away
Toronto-based owners of this 5-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom lakehouse in Glen Arbour needed a hassle-free solution. They wanted significant income without tying up their property — and the ability to use it whenever they wanted.
Casa Scotia handled everything remotely: dynamic pricing, guest screening, professional cleaning, maintenance coordination, and monthly reporting. The result? More than twice what a long-term lease would generate.
Short-Term vs. Long-Term Rental
“We were skeptical about short-term rentals, but the numbers speak for themselves — earning more than twice a long-term lease was beyond our expectations. The best part? We still get to enjoy the house whenever we want.”

How a Heritage Home Became Nova Scotia's #1 Airbnb (2018–2020)
In 2016, Yuan and Lloyd acquired a heritage property on Brunswick Street. By treating it as a business — daily pricing adjustments based on events, university schedules, and demand — it became Nova Scotia's highest-earning Airbnb for three consecutive years, from 2018 to 2020.
The approach: professional photography refreshed seasonally. Guest responses within 15 minutes. A 47-point cleaning checklist. A welcome guide updated monthly. Every review responded to. Every piece of feedback incorporated.
McCully House vs. Market Average
"When other property owners started asking 'can you do that for mine?', Casa Scotia was born."
The founding story
The Burned-Out Self-Manager
A Halifax couple earning $35K/year from their STR — spending 15-20 hours a week doing it. They wondered: would they net less after a 20% management fee?
Year one: gross revenue jumped from $35K to $42K. After our fee, they netted $33,600 — comparable to before, with zero hours. Year two: gross hit $46K, netting $36,800 — more than they'd ever earned self-managing.

Beautiful home with water views. House was clean and well-stocked. Had everything we needed for our weekend getaway. Liked the heated, enclosed porch - we spent the bulk of our time there socializing, eating meals, and playing games. Thank you for your hospitality!
The atmosphere was pleasantly cozy, and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. There was ample space, and we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the outdoor deck area. Numerous chairs were available for group seating and relaxation.
